SOPORA is an experimental music project of multi-disciplinary artist Sascha Dettbarn, combining elements of drone, dark ambient, noise, field recordings and sonic performance art. Using improvisation as the core approach, Dettbarn creates immersive soundscapes that transcend traditional composition.The sound of SOPORA exists in the ephemeral space between silence and noise, density and absence, hope and doom. By manipulating instruments like electric guitars and synths through a case full of fx-pedals, Dettbarn explores a wide range of what a human can feel.The live performances are an experience between concerts, immersive rituals, sound baths and deep dark meditations. SOPORA draws from influences such as the wall of sound of Sunn O))), the forelorn dirty sadness of Bohren & der Club of Gore, the general vibe of worn out tapes and black metal in slow motion — a unique blend of dark atmospheres, experimental soundscapes, and ritualism.
